Dear Friends and Family,
Many of you might be wondering what it was like to travel to Mallorca with 5 young children?
Well, it was great, I always had someone to talk to and we always had a reason to get up and walk around the plane! It was even better than flying ten hours alone. Since we had seven seats all in a row we were able to move around and sit in different places during the flight.
During the course of the flight to Frankfurt I think I only slept for maybe one hour. Frankfurt was a bit confusing and we had to negotiate a few elevators. But once we got to our gate we found a childrens play area nearby with coin operated rides. We were too cheap to spend one whole euro on any of the rides but the kids didn't mind they were just happy to be out of the plane for a bit.
Our layover in Frankfurt was supposed to be 5 hours but since we were late leaving LA because of a fuel spill our layover became 3 hours, we played for an hour at the children's area as Adriana and I marvelend at the immense planes that taxied passed large windows for all to see. As we waited for the plane to Mallorca, we alowed the kids to watch Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Rings, for the first time it was a special treat for them and a much needed rest for Adriana and Harmony who took a nap on the chairs, Meanwhile I tried to keep Joshua from wondering off to the escalators, eventually he gave in an he layed down right on the floor next to Adriana for a nap. By the time we boarded the plane for Mallorca Benjamin, Harmony, and Joshua all slept for he quick two hour flight. but once we got to Mallorca and woke them up boy were they upset! Benjamin and Joshua both threw a fit while Adriana accidently bumped Harmony's head. Good thing we were in the very back of the plane with nobody but the poor steward who courageously volunteered to help us with our bags.
Despite the long hours, and the fuel spill in LA, which by the way was still pouring out of the wing while we took off, it was a good trip. As we flew into the sunsent I caught beautiful views of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, the sun setting on another perfect California day. It was quite appropriate that we landed in Palma Mallorca the next day at the very same time, sunset, as if God was saying; "Here is an end to another perfect day, and I am placing you in it!"
